After many years of service on the Testing Committee (ten, actually!) Kelly Summers is stepping down as Chair, and C. Lynn Andersen is stepping up to fill that role.  We want to thank Kelly, and her former Co-Chair Apryl Cox for their tremendous efforts in developing tests and streamlining the examination process. We have seen so much growth in the number of areas available for testing, the quality of the tests, and the preparation level of the applicants, and it is due to their leadership and years of service.

Lynn Andersen brings to the Testing Committe chairmanship years of experience as a committee member, and a career in genealogy that began in 1985 when she got hooked on genealogy from researching her Mid-South region roots. Her ancestors migrated to Kentucky in the early 1800s through Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Currently, she is writing a book of stories about her Daughters of the American Revolution patriot ancestors.

Lynn began taking clients professionally in 1992, and received an accreditation through ICAPGen in 2006.  Lynn is accredited in the Mid-South States Region which includes the states of Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Although she specializes in Mid-South region research, client research has led to researching records from various places in the United States, and countries including Australia, Ireland, Romania (South Russia), Würtemburg, and Sweden. Her most exciting success story was solving an Ireland research problem using autosomal DNA to prove the family links with no paper trail.

Lynn volunteers at the Family History Library, Salt Lake City, Utah and at the Tooele Valley FHC, where she assists patrons with their research.  She regularly teaches classes at the Tooele Valley Utah FHC, its Family History Fair and at other local family history conferences, including ICAPGen and Brigham Young University’s Annual Family History and Genealogy Conference.
